Waste tanks: some important tips

Post Waste tanks: some important tips
One thing that's become apparent and should really be a bit of common sense is that the tubing must not reach a height of more than roughly 2 centimeters above the level of the printers waste pump (which is about 2 - 3 cm's from the bottom of the printer).

If the tube goes much higher the ink can slowly drift back into the sponge park pad and thus smear all across the printhead. If that happens it's obviously not good for your printing and can result in your printhead being damaged. So, a lower profile reservoir or even one that is located beneath the printer and a waste tube pathway that stays low is the best practice.

Just thought I'd add a quick note to this one as I managed to do just this with my R300...

Keeping your reservoir at this level is vital as it will result in ink seeping back into the sponge and killing your print head... I'm experiencing just that problem now with the Cyan now ejecting at odd angles due to dried on ink...

Post How to pull the waste ink line on the R200/R300
I can contribute some photos on how to take the waste ink line out of the R200/R300 printer, if I may share my web posting.

Yes, the waste ink bottle must be below the waste ink pad to avoid back flow.

I'm in the process of getting the knowledge base updated so if you want to get something written up for now we can add it to the KB at some point in the future..

Cheers.
