I'm sorry for taking so long to get back but here is my result with the Nexxtech CISS kit. After finding the required Auto Resetting Chips from Print on a Dime.com for my R220.
Most of the images have notations indicating points of interest.

I have not had a chance to put this to high production tests but from what I have observed so far I believe this setup will endure much work without a tubing issue. The routing I was able to use was possible mainly by the fact the cartridges are only about one half the height of the OEM cartridges as well as most of the other designs I bumped into. I fashioned a tubing support from bits of plastic I had on hand, attaching with hot melt where applicable and fastened it to the underside of the left housing, ending up with the mount nearly flush with the top surface. I used one of the originally supplied clips but turned it upside down so in the event I want to remove the tubing I can easily reach the release tabs on each side. image

The maximum height of the tubing is reached near the half way point. I first thought of laying the top down to give it a runway backing but since have found that just leaving it open causes little or no interference and it flexes to and fro very nicely. image

The action over the Disk Tray position seems natural with little sign of any stress or tension placed anywhere. image

In the far left position where I found the original orientation of the tubing cause a slapping in the corner of the printer, no matter how I tensioned the tubes is now a non issue as the tubes feed directly off the cartridges towards the right side of the printer. image

So when the carrier goes home to park there is just enough clearance at the right side to allow a gentle bend of the tubing while at rest. It didn't take long to determine just the right amount of tension needed to keep it all in place without being too tight. I had considered double strapping the tubing to the cartridges but when I watched it work figured there was not enough force on it to bother. The cartridges are held securely by the original carrier hold down clamp. What is nice about this is that as the carrier travels to the left the hoses just make a natural curl upwards out of the way. image

So far this setup seems to be working fine for me. When I first opened my pre-filled kits they had a lot of empty spots in the tubing. I was cautioned to make sure the air was removed before I started the machine. However when I did start the machine, in the initial purging of the cartridges it all disappeared, giving a perfect nozzle check and test print.The ink quality issues and clogging and all the rest of the complaints are something I will be discovering in the future but so far......so good!

I hope my findings can help others make some good decisions.

Has everyone managed to get their systems up and working now? It seems like it by the lack of further posts here. I wonder what is going on. Any ideas?

Overall I'm guessing that it's a lack of awareness of this site but then it's still early days and these things have a way of slowly filtering out there.

As it is I'm intending to extend this site by installing a wiki or a CMS like Word Press so there's greater emphasis on concise articles rather than just the usual forum type site.

I wouldn't mind betting your post has saved a few people a lot of headaches though.. so thanks for posting it. Smile

I just purchased this kit from the Source by Circuit City aka the old Canadian Radio Shack.... Even though it states that the R220 is not supported, it works perfectly, that is after I took out the plugs in the air tubes(boy do I feel stupid after waisting 2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong!)

I disliked the fact that I did not receive any instructions... but still fairly easy to set up... and seems great...

Hi Martin;

All the best of the season!

I'm happy to report my Nexxtech System on the 220 is still working fine.

I did modify the tubing support slightly though, by using a very soft gauge coil spring. To make it work I simply stretched it out enough to deform it into a curly piece of wire. I then found the center and made 2 square bends that were wide enough to span the tubing. (Picture a staple with very long legs)

I then supported the left (open) ends of the spring along with the tubing clamps at the edge of the opening.
I experimented with the best length, so use what suits you. Mine sits just short of the center travel.

To support the tubing I simply used plastic electricians tape to make a flat soft saddle for the tuning to lay on. This is what supports the tubing about an inch from the square bend.

This system allows some extra flexibility to the tubing with out straining it on the extremities of the pass. The loop at center can lift as well as lower slightly as the printer works but the spring is strong enough to hold the tubing up out of the carriage path. The tape provides a soft non chaffing support.

Works like a charm.

To giftie.........It sounds like Nexxtech finally smartened up to include chips the 220 would recognize. Good stuff, enjoy.

Still needs polishing but is good temporarily and works better than any other support system I tried.

I hope this helps some of you and I'm sure if you can arrange the tubing as I described earlier, you will be more than happy with how this works. I see no reason other printers wouldn't benefit from it as well.
