Post thinking about CIS
I'm thinking about getting a cis for a hp c7280

on the plus side the inc cartridges don't move with the head. On the minus side unlike other hp printers, you don't get a new print head with each cartridge so if I kill the head I'm stuffed.

So 1stly has anyone here been using a cis for over a year with no major problems?

I've heard that Holidays can be a problem as the cis wants to be in constant use.. is this true and what can be done about it, or what do I need to look for in a cis to avoid this?

any idea what type of ink the original cartridges are pigment or dye, or how to find out

Any recommendation of suppliers in the uk
Presumably I don't want to change ink supplier so preferably someone who's been going a long time.

ta

Bump this in a couple of days and I'll give some advice then.

I'm not sure if the printheads are like those in the Officejet series (ie: replaceable/consumable) but having looked around it seems they may not be... Which given the capacity of the ink carts is no great shock. So, yeah, in a sense you would be "stuffed".

Not had that experience, nor heard of anyone who is either.. but probably the smart move here is to contact Sam at RIHAC about this product:
http://www.rihac.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=407&osCsid=398197a
EDIT: turns out Sam has opened a store in the UK:
http://www.rihac.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=26_28_42&products_id=338

He should then be able to answer all your other questions...

I'm not up on ink suppliers myself as I buy in bulk from the Image Specialists reseller in Europe but hobbicolours, OCP, Image Specialists inks are all worth a look... If you get the kit above then Sam can probably recommend a more local reseller if you're likely to use a high level of inks.

Hope that helps
